THERE'S MORE TO THIS THAN MEETS THE EYE (MY SIDE OF THE STORY)
I am currently in dispute with City of Edinburgh Council over council tax arrears. These arrears originate from an unpaid rates rebate owed to me by a previous administration.
In January Edinburgh Sheriff's Officers arrested my entire collection of 100 photographs in the exhibition effectively preventing the sale of my work and stopping the tour in its tracks. This gravely jeopardised the operation of my business as a self-employed freelance arts photographer.
In order to allow the exhibition to continue its tour, I have been forced to sign away ownership of the work to City of Edinburgh Council who will keep possession after the tour ends. I have no guarantee that the work will be returned to me after the alleged arrears are paid...
...To this end I have printed a limited edition set of framed hand prints from the exhibition which are now available for all those who wish to support the release of the work.
After the news article appeared I received many phone calls from wellwishers. I would like to thank everyone for their support. I am particularly grateful to Margaret McGregor; Morag Neil (p,p&p), the staff at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen; Eden Court Theatre, Inverness. Malcolm Chisholm (M.P. / M.S.P.); and Cllr.Steve Cardownie - without their efforts the exhibition would not have continued its tour.
City of Edinburgh Council are more than happy to sell images from this exhibition - all monies will go directly to them. Alternatively I may be contacted direct regarding commissions etc. marc marnie Stagefright Photography Edinburgh Scotland Email: marc@marcmarnie.com
