Geri Allen

Allen was involved briefly with Brooklyn's M-Base movement. She has now become highly respected as an accompanist (working with Betty Carter amongst others) and also as a solo musician and bandleader. She has appeared with, amongst others, Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, and Steve Coleman. During one show she had the lights on her turned down so far they were off - photography was impossible, but she kindly posed for this shot as she came off stage.
