Van Morrison
The epic pop hit Gloria made Van a teenage star, but he shifted onto a
higher plane with the cool glories of Astral Weeks (1968), then let his
soul man roots assert themselves on Moondance (1970), Saint Dominic's
Preview (1972), and the electrifying live album It's Too Late To Stop Now
(1974). He has touched those peaks many times since, but his original
fusion of soul, rhythm and blues, jazz and folk influences has also
produced artistic troughs. Nonetheless, Van the Man remains one of the most
powerful performers and writers in rock music.
