Raised in Texas Campbell took up music after a near fatal drag racing accident at the age of 15 left him with one eye and a rebuilt face. Influenced by John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Sam Hopkins the singer/guitarists first album 'A MAN AND HIS BLUES' (Crosscut Records 1988) was nominated for a W.C.Handy award, but otherwise went largely unnoticed. The photograph was made during the 'ONE BELIEVER' (Elektra Records1991) tour.
