Dr. Charles Isaiah Ross

'Dr Ross The Harmonica Boss' - Charles Ross began his recording career with Sam Phillips in Memphis. Like Elizabeth Cotton he played guitar upside down-left handed, with the added eccentricity of also using his harmonica upside down (high notes to the left), in fact he could have made a rubber band boogie. Dr. Ross has been one of my favourite blues performers since I first heard him on record in 1974. At the time I was told he'd been dead for some years. Despite this I saw him perform at the 1991Burnley Blues Festival. The picture is of Dr Ross in his hotel room just before his show. Sadly I have since been informed that he really did die recently.
