PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS James Brown, Liam Gallagher & Nick Cave Get Out Of Jail & Head North James Brown, Liam Gallagher & Nick Cave with a supporting cast of 30 musicians (and Chuck Berry's suitcase) have been bailed out at the eleventh hour, just in time for a special appearance in Inverness. The unlikely scenario of 100 of the most influential musicians of our times being impounded by Sheriff's Officers has been taking place in Glasgow this month. Pursuing a disputed debt, Edinburgh's ever-resourceful Sheriff's Officers placed an injunction on 100+ pictures from leading photographer marc marnie's highly acclaimed double exhibition - AN EYE FOR MUSIC and BODY AND SOUL - which was enjoying an extended run at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall. However, following intense behind the scenes negotiations with the City of Edinburgh Council, an agreement has been reached and the exhibition has been allowed to go on tour. The next stop is Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, where all 57 pictures from marc marnie's AN EYE FOR MUSIC exhibition will go on show from Mon 29 May till Sat 10 June. Other featured artists include the Prodigy's Keith Flint, Evelyn Glennie, BB King, Siouxsie Sioux, Nico, k d lang, James Taylor, Peter Green, Miles Davis and Jarvis Cocker. (The James Brown picture was taken in Aberdeen - at the only one of three billed UK appearances that he honoured. Chuck Berry's suitcase is another story entirely!) AN EYE FOR MUSIC is a stunningly impressive exhibition of 57 framed 20x16 b/w hand prints of the most influential musicians of the last 50 years, taken both on and off stage by one of Scotland's leading photographers. Marc has spent nearly a quarter of a century photographing thousands of musicians on stage and in his Edinburgh studio. Working mainly in black and white, and in very low light environments, he has caught in the act many of the great musical artists of the 20th century - and the rising stars of the 21st. Marc's pictures let us glimpse behind the music; his vision and intuitive approach get to the heart of things, evoking the essential spirit of the performer. His passion for his craft and his sympathy for his subjects have allowed him to engage even the most temperamental of performers long enough to capture unique perspectives on film.
