I took my first photographs in 1977 of Muddy Waters in Glasgow's legendary Apollo Theatre.
The bands then were absolutely live and very real; security staff were tough and there was no 'First 3 No Flash' rule. Accreditation was not much of a shield; when the headline act, Eric Clapton, took the stage the crowd rushed forward, a bouncer lashed out and broke my nose.
Since then I have photographed many of the world's greatest and most admirable musicians, particularly in the Rock, Americana, Jazz & Blues idioms. My hearing has become severely impaired but my nose has mended.
Outside of music and theatre events I also work from my studio, specialising in portraiture, though I have always taken on pretty much any job that comes my way.
